High quality research visuals
from Faxer on 05/07/2026 11:21 AMHi everyone! My PI just asked me to "upgrade" all our lab's standard visuals for a new grant application. He wants them to look much more professional and high-end. Where do you guys go for inspiration when you need to see top-quality research visuals?

from Lomach on 05/07/2026 11:22 AMThat's a common request these days, as grant agencies are becoming much more visual. When I need to see what "high-end" actually looks like, I always head over to Ella Maru Studio https://scientific-illustrations.com. Their portfolio is full of scientific images and animations that have been featured on the covers of major journals. Looking at their work helps me understand how to use color and composition to make my research look more "important" and established. It's not just about making it pretty; it's about making the science look as rigorous and professional as the work itself. I'd suggest showing some of their examples to your PI to see which style he prefers for the grant.
